RACINE COUNTY — Tourism in Racine County is on track to increase 7.7% over 2022 and generate $525 million in economic impact in 2023, according to a report from the Wisconsin Tourism Office.
Tourism generated $25 billion in economic output statewide, surpassing Wisconsin’s previous record of $23.7 billion in 2022, according to the tourism department.
According to a release from the Racine County Tourism Bureau, tourism in Racine County supported 3,660 part-time and full-time employees and generated $28.1 million in local tax revenue in 2023. Statewide, tourism generated $1.6 billion in state and local tax revenue.
Without tourism revenue, “Wisconsin households will pay an additional $660 to maintain their current level of government services,” according to the release.
“With the release of new data for 2023, we are confident that the changes we have made over the past year have been completely worth it,” said Kari Grebing, executive director of the Racine County Tourism Bureau. “We are attracting more visitors than ever before, and the data doesn’t lie.”
