Rail Europe and the European Travel Commission (ETC) have announced a strategic partnership aimed at improving rail travel, a groundbreaking move to promote sustainable tourism across the continent.

Rail Europe, Europe’s leading distributor of rail tickets and passes, is partnering with ETC to capitalise on the growing demand for environmentally friendly travel.

The cooperation aims to make rail the preferred mode of transport for tourists travelling across Europe.

Both organisations aim to provide a seamless and efficient rail travel experience with a shared vision of reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable tourism.

The partnership will focus on several key areas, including improving access to rail services, developing innovative travel products and raising awareness of the benefits of rail travel among tourists. By combining Rail Europe’s extensive network and booking capabilities with ETC’s promotional activities, the partnership is expected to drive significant growth in rail tourism.

Furthermore, the strategic partnership supports the broader goals of the European Green Deal, which highlights the need for sustainable and environmentally friendly travel solutions.

By promoting rail as a greener alternative to other modes of transport, Rail Europe and ETC are contributing to achieving Europe’s sustainability goals and improving the overall travel experience.

“We are very pleased to be partnering with the European Travel Commission,” said the RailEurope CEO.

“This partnership marks a major step forward in our efforts to promote sustainable travel options. By making rail travel more accessible and attractive, we can help reduce the environmental impact of tourism and encourage more people to explore Europe by train.”

The European Travel Commission echoed this sentiment, highlighting the importance of sustainable tourism to the future of the industry: “Our collaboration with Rail Europe allows us to further our mission of promoting Europe as a top travel destination whilst prioritizing sustainability.”

“Together we can create a more sustainable tourism sector that benefits both travelers and the environment,” ETC chairman said.

As part of the strategic partnership, Rail Europe and ETC will launch joint marketing campaigns, develop new rail-centric journey itineraries and work on initiatives to improve the overall travel experience.

This partnership marks an important milestone on the journey towards a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future for European tourism.

With this cooperation, Rail Europe and the European Travel Commission aim to transform the travel landscape and make rail a cornerstone of sustainable tourism in Europe.
