Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority (RAKTA) and Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) have partnered with Skyports Infrastructure, a company leading the development of vertiport infrastructure for electric air taxi services. Skyports) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the future. , as part of a significant new step towards transforming the emirate’s tourism and transport services.

The MoU marks the beginning of a partnership aimed at developing sustainable tourism through electric air mobility, and Skyport will develop a network of vertiports connecting key tourist attractions across Ras Al Khaimah. Under the agreement, RAKTA, RAKTDA and Skyports will jointly design, develop and operate Ras Al Khaimah’s first electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) air taxi ecosystem, which is expected to begin commercial operations by 2027.

This innovative project aims to promote Ras Al Khaimah as a future destination in line with RAKTA’s Strategic Plan 2030 by seamlessly integrating Skyport’s vertiport infrastructure with RAKTA’s existing transportation network. Masu. The project will provide convenient, zero-emission transportation to Ras Al Khaimah’s most popular areas and tourist attractions, including Al Marjan Island, Al Hamra and the UAE’s highest peak, Jebel Jais, as well as The aim is to save customers and residents a significant amount of time. When you visit these sites. Currently, the travel time from Al Marjan Island to Jebel Jais is approximately 70 minutes by car, but air taxi services will reportedly reduce the travel time to less than 20 minutes.

The initiative also aims to reduce carbon emissions in the land transportation sector, a sector that accounts for 40 percent of greenhouse gas emissions in the travel and tourism industry, as highlighted by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC). We also address the need for innovative solutions. We hope to develop future opportunities to integrate with air taxi networks in other parts of the UAE.

HE Eng. RAKTA Secretary General Esmael Hassan Al Bourushi added: “This partnership marks a pivotal moment in our efforts to revolutionize transport in Ras Al Khaimah.” By introducing electric air mobility, we are not only connecting tourists to tourist attractions, but also paving a sustainable path for the emirate. This innovative project is fully aligned with our commitment to improve accessibility while minimizing environmental impact, in line with our 2030 strategic plan. Together, we are building a brighter, greener future for Ras Al Khaimah. ”
