We are looking for change makers around the world who are taking action to create positive impacts while reducing the negative impacts of tourism.
The Responsible Tourism Awards are held in the categories of Africa, Latin America, India, Southeast Asia and “Rest of the World”.
Judges are looking for winners across six areas: enabling inclusive travel, championing cultural diversity, caring for nature, climate change, creating shared value, increasing local procurement and developing skills in local communities.
Companies that win Gold Awards in all categories in the Regional Responsible Tourism Awards will then be eligible for the Global Responsible Tourism Awards, sponsored by Sabre.
It is due to be unveiled in London in November 2024.
“We look for initiatives that can provide inspiration for other destinations and organisations to learn from. We look for places and people that are developing solutions,” said Harold Goodwin, founder of the Partnership for Responsible Tourism, which has run the awards since 2004.
“The Responsible Tourism Awards shine a light on best practice from around the world,” said Tess Longfield, head of sustainability communications at Sabre and a judge for the Global Responsible Tourism Awards.
“The most inspiring ideas come from anywhere: from the smallest tourism ventures to the largest corporations.”
Entries for the three regional awards are free and still open.
The International Centre for Responsible Tourism India Foundation Awards are open for submissions until June 30th
The International Centre for Responsible Tourism Southeast Asia Awards are open for submissions until June 30th.
The Other Global Awards are open to projects from around the world and can be submitted by August 31st.
With the deadlines for the two regional awards now closed, the Gold Award winners from the WTM Africa Awards and Latin America LATA Awards will now be considered for the Global Responsible Tourism Awards, sponsored by Sabre.
