The U.S. Senate has passed a bipartisan resolution introduced by Sens. Todd Young (R-Ind.) and Steve Daines (R-Mont.) and other senators, and the April 2024 The period from the 20th to the 28th was designated as National Park Week.
“Hoosiers are proud of Indiana Dunes National Park, which serves as a great example of the vast landscapes, wildlife, and history that national parks across our country have to offer. During National Parks Week, we are proud of Indiana Dunes National Park. We celebrate Dunes National Park and America’s great outdoors,” said Senator Young.
Young helped author the bill that established Indiana Dunes National Park as the 61st national park in the United States and Indiana’s first national park.

Thursday, April 25: Youth participation. Learn about opportunities for youth and young adults to get involved.
Friday, April 26: Community Connections. Learn about the important work the National Park Service and partners are doing in communities inside and outside park boundaries across the country.
Saturday April 27th: Junior Ranger Day.Become a junior ranger
