A 67-year-old German man has been found dead on the Greek island of Crete, police said on Monday, the sixth tourist to die during June’s unusually hot weather.
The tourist had gone hiking alone in a valley in the Sauguia area on Sunday and called his wife a few hours later to report feeling unwell.
“A search and rescue operation was immediately launched and a special rescue team equipped with a drone found the man’s body in the Tripiti Valley,” a police official told Reuters.

Rescue teams are also searching for two French women, aged 73 and 64, on Sikinos, and a 59-year-old American police officer holidaying on Amorgos.

The body of British television presenter Michael Mosley was found on June 9 on another Aegean island, Symi, after a four-day search by planes, drones and boats. Mosley had been walking alone in high temperatures before going missing.
