The Tourism Grant Program is funded by 40 percent of the Somerset County lodging tax, which went into effect in September 2002. Grants are awarded annually on merit by the Somerset County Tourism Grant Review Committee and are administered by the Somerset County Commissioners and GO Laurel Highlands, the county’s official tourism marketing organization. Since its inception, the program has awarded 898 grants totaling approximately $7.2 million, including $607,832 last year.
