The Stevens Point Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (SPACVB) is hosting National Travel and Tourism Week this month to highlight the contributions of the travel industry and its critical role in promoting economic growth across communities across the country.

To commemorate the week, SPACVB will host two events highlighting the importance of the industry and the benefits it brings to Portage County.

In celebration of National Travel and Tourism Week, SPACVB will be hosting “Tourism Takeover: Live!” The event will be held at Stevens Point Brewery’s new taproom on Monday, May 20, 2024 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The night will feature live podcast recordings of Pour Another Round, Stevens Point Brewery, Osso Brewing Company, Central Waters, District 1, Sunset Point Winery, and Great Northern Distillery. Attendees will enjoy food, complimentary drinks, and a chance to win prizes.

This event is free to attend and RSVP by May 15, 2024 at bit.ly/TourismTakeover2024.

The second event, the annual Familiarization Tour (FAM Tour), will be a three-hour guided tour held on June 5th, featuring abbreviated on-site visits to new and popular attractions in the region is.

This year’s tour also includes stops at Guild Designs, Food + Farm Exploration Center and Stevens Point Brewery, where refreshments will be provided during the guided bus tour. The FAM Tour is primarily aimed at front-line staff in the hospitality industry, but is open to everyone, with limited space available. Those interested can register for one of his two tour times (9 a.m. to noon or 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.) at bit.ly/2024FAM.

Travel plays a vital role in the U.S. economy, generating $2.8 trillion in economic output in 2022 and supporting nearly 15 million jobs across the country. 2023 tourist spending data for Portage County and the state of Wisconsin is expected to be released in early June.

The Stevens Point Area Convention & Visitors Bureau is an economic and community development organization dedicated to expanding Portage County’s economy by attracting conventions, sporting events, and leisure tourism.

The increase in visitor spending and tax revenue generated by the Department contributes to commerce, preserves jobs, and increases the region’s attractiveness as a destination. For more information about the Stevens Point Area, visit StevensPointArea.com.
