Applications for Spokane’s Tourism and Cultural Investment Grants will open June 1st.

These grants are awarded in allocations of $5,000 to $10,000 to organizations working to enhance Spokane’s tourism and cultural environment. Funding comes from state law RCW 67.28.1817, which establishes a lodging tax paid per night at local hotels. This tax revenue is used to fund opportunities that promote tourism.

The recipients are selected by the Tourism, Culture and Investment Committee, formerly known as the Accommodations Tax Advisory Committee, which has been inactive for the past two years.

Nonprofit, for-profit and public organizations can apply for and use funds for projects, programs, events and facilities that promote tourism and cultural investment.

“I look forward to the boost these grants will bring to Spokane. With the support of the newly reinstated Tourism and Cultural Investment Board, these funds will help grow our local economy and bring people together around exciting events that celebrate our unique culture,” said Mayor Lisa Brown.

“These grants are an important step in positioning Spokane as a vibrant cultural and tourism hub for people throughout the region,” said City Councilman Zach Zappone. “Investing in these cultural opportunities will ensure Spokane is a city that residents can be proud of and visitors can enjoy. We encourage organizations to apply for these grants and reach out with any questions.”

“We thank Mayor Brown and Councilman Zappone for reinstating funding for festivals and events under the new Tourism and Culture Investment Grant,” said Rose Noble, president and CEO of the Spokane Tourism Bureau. “These funds stimulate our economy, enhance Spokane’s culture, and connect grant recipients with the lodging destinations that make the grants possible. Events and festivals are essential to attracting out-of-town visitors and enhancing our tourism offerings. We are pleased to be part of this effort and are pleased that these funds support local businesses and cultural organizations, elevating Spokane as a premier, diverse tourism destination.”

The grant application is available here.
