Saint Lucia
– The Saint Lucia Tourism Authority (SLTA) hosted the 2024 Global Piton Awards, recognizing the top-selling Saint Lucian expert travel advisors from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland and the Caribbean.
VIP arrival services and custom experiences were part of the exclusive event, which also included site visits of the currently under construction Sandals Halcyon, Secrets St. Lucia Resort & Spa and Courtyard by Marriott, as well as a tour of the St. Lucia Mural. In addition, attendees enjoyed a variety of activities at Howellton Estate, including painting with Saki, chocolate making, handbag making and painting, batik, cold pressed coconut oil making and a local lunch. The awards ceremony concluded at Sandals Grande St. Lucia, where the top 35 winners were recognized for their contributions to St. Lucia’s tourism industry.
The 2024 Global Piton Awards will recognise the travel advisor who has booked the most hotel stays between January 1, 2023 and December 31, 2023 through the St. Lucia Expert (SLEx) program, created in partnership with Recommend Magazine. The winners include 15 from the United States, five from Canada, 10 from the UK and Ireland and five from the Caribbean, and each winner will receive a locally handcrafted trophy bearing the St. Lucia coat of arms.
“Our travel advisors have a special faith in St. Lucia, and much of our success and global recognition is due to their continued promotion of the island’s products. They are undoubtedly a driving force in our industry, and we are pleased to show our gratitude,” said Anya Whitfield, director and chief financial officer of the St. Lucia Tourism Board. “Their efforts also support our sustainable tourism initiatives, which aim to preserve St. Lucia’s natural beauty and cultural heritage for future generations.”

Lynn Thomas of Alpha World Travel received the Chairman’s Award for outstanding sales performance in the United States.
The Tourism Minister’s Award for Outstanding Sales Performance in the UK and Ireland went to Lianne Peters of Luxury Holidays 4 U in the Travel Advisor category and Jo Plummer of Tropic Breeze in the Tour Operator category.
Nancy Finn of Island Getaways received the Prime Minister’s Award for Outstanding Sales Performance by Worldwide Sales Revenue.
