The City of Sugar Land announced that its recent decision to join the Texas Brew City program demonstrates its commitment to fostering economic growth and entrepreneurial opportunities.
As a member of the program launched by the Texas Craft Brewers Guild in March 2024, Sugar Land welcomes aspiring business owners and entrepreneurs in Texas looking to expand and explore local opportunities. It is participating as a so-called “emerging beerscape” to encourage breweries. The city’s press release also states that with a thriving local community and new development opportunities, Sugar Land is ready to welcome new businesses and contribute to the thriving craft beer industry in Texas. .
“Saint Arnold Brewery has been a strong partner for several community events in Sugar Land for many years,” said Brianna Williams, event production manager.
In addition, Talyard Brewing Co. will open a 3.5-acre site at 1033 Imperial Blvd. later this year. “As a growing city, we are excited to be part of the program. With the upcoming opening of Talyard, Sugar Land is the first city in the program to move from the previously named ‘Emerging Brewery’ to ‘Emerging Brewery’. We’re ready to transition into a craft beer destination. It’s the end of the year,” Williams explains.
Home to more than 400 breweries in the Lone Star State, craft beer contributes a staggering $4.5 billion annually to the Texas economy, the third most of any state, and serves more than 30,000 people. It supports employment. Still, when it comes to the number of breweries per capita, Texas ranks a distant 47th, confirming that Sugar Land’s industry has the potential for further growth.
“The Texas Brew City program is an important milestone in the Texas Craft Brewers Association’s efforts to support and advance the craft beer industry in Texas,” said TCBG Executive Director Caroline Wallace. “Work with ’emerging breweries’ like Sugar Land who are seeking brewery partners that promote tourism, drive economic development, and provide local residents with a fun and attractive ‘third space’ destination.” In doing so, we aim to stimulate the local economy and further establish Texas. It’s a world-class beer market. ”
Sugar Land joins a coalition of diverse communities across the state united by a common vision to promote Texas craft beer and revitalize the local economy.
