Thailand’s Chonburi province has been selected as the 2025 Michelin Guide Thailand’s “New City Debut” as the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) continues its efforts to promote destinations through food.
TAT Governor Tapani Khiafaiburu said in a press conference today that NTO and Michelin Guide have been working together for more than seven years to promote the value of the food industry in Thai tourism and boost the country’s economic growth.
TAT’s Nissy Siprae and food KOL Mark Wiens have a panel discussion at the press conference to announce the debut of the new city in Bangkok, Thailand on April 3rd.
“Today (the announcement) marks another milestone in promoting the soft power of food, making Thailand’s tourism experience more meaningful and rewarding,” Tapani said.
Since 2019, Michelin Guide Thailand has selected at least one destination each year, including Phuket, Phang Nga, Chiang Mai, Ayutthaya, Nakhon Ratchasima, Ubon Ratchathani, Udon Thani, Khon Kaen, Koh Samui, and Surat Thani mainland. We are announcing a new city or region. .
Chonburi is already a popular destination for local foodies, and also includes cities such as Pattaya, Sriracha, famous for being the birthplace of Sriracha sauce, and Sattahip Naval Port.
TAT’s Deputy Governor for Marketing and Communications Nithy Siprae expressed hope that the partnership with Michelin will help boost the economy of Thailand’s secondary destinations.
“We can already see how tourism increases when a famous chef opens a restaurant in Thailand. We hope that this cooperation will increase tourism to Chonburi by up to 20 percent,” he said. Told.
Food blogger and KOL Mark Wiens highlights seafood as the state’s biggest draw, saying Michelin restaurant designations will draw tourists to local communities across the state and give their signature dishes greater visibility and recognition. He said he hopes it will be useful.
“Currently, tourists know about Pattaya, but they don’t know much about Chonburi province.
