TEHRAN – Iran’s capital Tehran plans to upgrade the landscape of its tourist destinations by developing related facilities across all 22 of its districts, local officials said.
Mohammad Nazem Razavi told the Iranian News Agency on Saturday that each district in the capital would implement its own tourism project based on extensive planning and research.
Razavi said he hoped the new tourist facilities would be up and running before the end of the Persian year, explaining that the new facilities would complement Tehran’s existing tourism infrastructure.
“The new tourist centre will provide a range of services to citizens,” the official said. “It will also provide short-term accommodation options close to the city’s parks and pilgrimage sites.”
He also stressed that these centers could establish tea houses dedicated to Imam Reza (AS) and serve as places for local people to distribute donations.
The total budget allocated to Tehran’s tourism sector this year is about $8 million, which will be used to develop the city’s tourist infrastructure, Razavi said.
Earlier this year, Seyed Ahmad Alavi, chairman of the city council’s tourism committee, announced that tourism routes would be approved for all 22 districts.
Alavi stressed that the goal is to improve the quality of life for Tehran residents by offering attractive and enjoyable tourism and leisure activities all year round.
