Hyderabad: Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao has said that the state of Telangana, which is rich in natural beauty, will become a wedding capital.
Speaking at an event organised by the Telangana Chamber of Events Industry (TCEI) on Sunday, Krishna Rao said though Telangana is a wedding destination, such ceremonies are being held only in banquet halls, convention centres and resorts in and around Hyderabad.
Apart from Hyderabad, there are many other beautiful places that are rich in resources and have historical importance, he said. One of them, the area around Nagarjunasagar reservoir, in the midst of green hills, is an ideal place for destination weddings. Similarly, the backwaters of Somashila in Kolhapur, on the banks of river Krishna, are also infrastructurally beneficial, Krishna Rao said. All that is needed is for people to be made aware of these places.
Highlighting the state government’s goal under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to make Telangana a global tourism hub, he said the government is laying emphasis on various sectors like healthcare, adventure, spirituality, ecotourism etc. He said steps are being taken to attract investors in developing tourist destinations through Public Private Partnership (PPP) to promote destination weddings.
Krishna Rao said development in the tourism sector would further increase income and employment opportunities for the youth.
Explaining the importance of such events, the Minister said that such programmes would help further strengthen Telangana’s position as a destination wedding hub and a leading tourist destination.
The event was attended by Tourism Development Corporation MD Ramesh Naidu, Director Tourism, TCEI, Chairman Alla Balram Babu, Head of Hitex Srikanth, SIWPC Coordinators Hirash Reddy, Kumar Raja, Dr Saurabh Surekha and Sudhakar Yaravadi among others.
