The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is stepping up its strategy to attract French tourists to the city ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics, which kicked off on Friday. TAT has partnered with Carrefour Voyages since May to launch a promotional campaign with 115 French travel agencies. The aim is to increase tourism from Thailand using both online and offline methods, with a goal of selling 2,000 travel packages by August.
TAT hopes to continue its marketing efforts later this year in cooperation with Voyages Privé, Ubatu, Singapore Airlines and the Singapore Tourism Board, which hopes to attract 632,000 French tourists to Thailand this year and generate at least 42.9 billion baht in tourism revenue.
Siripakorn Chaewsamut, vice president for Europe, America, Middle East and Africa at the Tourism Authority of Thailand, said he was confident this approach would help the country surpass pre-pandemic levels in terms of both tourism numbers and revenue, stressing that the Paris Olympics is an important opportunity to encourage French tourists to visit Thailand before and after the games.
