Top tourist attractions worth visiting

Some tourist attractions, despite being heavily advertised, fail to live up to expectations. But every once in a while, one of these world-famous “traps” may leave you completely dumbfounded. So redditor u/ottyoshi7 asked, “What tourist attractions are not overrated?” Here are some sites worth visiting, according to redditors and members of the BuzzFeed community:

1. “Mont Saint-Michel in Normandy, France. It appears to be the home of a particularly prosperous wizarding family.”

2. “The Terracotta Warriors in Xi’an, China. You approach the unimpressive, unimpressive entrance, but as you turn the corner, you’re in for a real stunner.”

3. “Smithsonian Museums near the Capitol in Washington, D.C. They’re all free and range from pretty good to world-class.”

4. “The Path of the Gods hiking trail on the Amalfi Coast. It’s truly amazing. The views from there are some of the best in the world.”

5. “The Alhambra in Granada, Spain is amazing…especially if you can see it at night.”

6. “Machu Picchu. You’ll be especially impressed if you’re brave enough to climb the death trap stairs to the top of Huayna Picchu. The views and ruins are truly spectacular.”

7. “Angkor Wat is amazing in itself, but it’s basically an entire city made up of ruins, ramparts, and a man-made lake. It’s rich in nature. It’s the best place I’ve ever been. How many? I went to that place.” ”

8. “The Louvre in Paris has a well-deserved reputation. There’s more art there than anyone talks about. When I visited, I spent hours just looking at the sculptures and paintings. I could hardly spend any time looking at it.” ”

9. “Sequoia National Park. You don’t truly understand how big these trees are until you stand next to them, see the wrinkles in the bark wider than your body, and hear the sap and squeak.” You can’t.” When you climb up the tree, it hits you all at once and you feel smaller. ”

10. “As a Floridian, visiting Rockefeller Center in New York during Christmas time felt like I was in a movie. It was amazing.”

11. “The Leaning Tower of Pisa. It’s really amazing to see in person. And even if you go late in the day, it’s not too crowded (at least when I was there).”

12. “Marrakech’s main square, Djemaa el Fna. I love the energy and music here, and the food stalls are amazing!”

13. “Times Square. I hate it when people say to avoid this attraction. If you’ve never been to New York, go to Times Square. Just drive through Times Square on your way to a Broadway show. Or , go see the screen at midnight.” Dress up with artwork by local artists. Don’t go to Friday’s or Chili’s to eat. But it’s worth the walk. ”

14. “Moraine Lake in Banff National Park. Despite the tourist traps, it’s the most beautiful place I’ve ever been.”

15. “If you’re interested in Cold War history, the Checkpoint Charlie Museum is very fascinating. It’s huge and packed with all kinds of information. It’s a private museum and it’s clearly a labor of love, so It’s expensive. It’s not a fancy museum. There are few well-chosen exhibits, but it’s packed with information. But if you don’t like reading and you really want to learn, this is very nice.”

16. “Milford Sound. In fact, the drive there from Queenstown, New Zealand is truly amazing.”

17. “The Cliffs of Moher. The first time I went there I was stunned. I thought, ‘This can’t be real. It looks like a stock image.'” I couldn’t get over how amazing it was. ”

18. “The Duomo in Florence is truly amazing. I went there just before sunset, when most people were gone, and it was incredible.”

19. “Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. I was tired of seeing cathedrals on my trips to Europe, so I wasn’t at all excited to visit. But it’s amazing. I could have looked outside for hours. But the inside was amazing. It was the most magical experience I’ve ever had and I’d love to go again.”

20. “Chicago architecture boat tours are a lot of fun and offer something a little different from the usual tourist activities.”

21. “Santorini. When you look at the pictures, you think there’s no way the island really looks like that…but it does.”

22. “Niagara Falls. As an Englishman, I’ve never seen a body of water so big. I put on a huge blue poncho to keep me dry and got on a boat next to the falls. I couldn’t help but get wet. But I was surprised.”

23. “Climbing to the top of the Eiffel Tower is quite impressive, especially at night. The lack of nearby skyscrapers really emphasizes the tower’s height.”

24. “The Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter’s Basilica are all definitely worth seeing. The art is incredible and the scale of St. Peter’s Basilica is unreal.”
