The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) will again hold a roadshow in Korea later this week, aiming to deepen tourism professionals’ understanding of Macao’s latest tourism information.
The four-day promotion will kick off at Shinsegae Department Store in Gangnam, Seoul on Wednesday, May 29. A similar event was held last year.
According to the company, it chose the location because the store’s average daily visitor numbers exceed 800,000 people.
Officials added that the company’s sales will exceed $2.3 billion in 2023, making it South Korea’s largest department store and the world’s third-largest.
MGTO says it aims to attract spending from wealthy consumers in East Asian countries.
According to official statistics, the number of South Korean tourists, Macau’s largest international market, was 192,095 as of May 21.
This figure represents 93.9% of the total for 2023 and 52% compared to the same period before COVID-19.
Authorities said they would work with South Korean mobile payment service KakaoPay and the country’s largest online travel agency, GoodChoice, to encourage purchases of Macau tourism products through discounts and interactive games.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority, there are currently four airlines operating flights to and from Seoul, with between seven and 14 flights per week.
