CHONGQING, May 20 (Xinhua) – Diverse tourism scenarios are diversifying entertainment experiences in China’s Three Gorges Reservoir region and generating new consumption growth.

Tourists can now visit the region by water, land and air. Fengjie County, southwestern China’s Chongqing city, introduced low-altitude helicopter tours this year, giving holidaymakers a fresh perspective on the scenery of Guimen, the gateway to the steepest valley of the Yangtze River, China’s longest river. Tours are no longer limited to daytime hours either. At night, the light show on the cliffs of Wushan County and the brightly lit ancient streets of Wanzhou District are a feast for the eyes.

“Compared to when I visited the Three Gorges Reservoir region 10 years ago, the infrastructure and services in tourist spots here have been greatly improved. Many consumption scenarios have also become fresh,” said a tourist from neighboring Hunan province. customer Tuo Lixin said.

In the past five years, a total of 59 scenic spots in Chongqing’s Three Gorges Dam area have been newly designated as national A-class tourist attractions. In 2023, Chongqing City alone welcomed approximately 11.26 million overnight tourists, securing an added tourism value of approximately 21.62 billion yuan (approximately 3 billion US dollars), an increase of 38.2% and 9.4% from the previous year, respectively. ■
