SAINT JOHN, U.S. Virgin Islands , June 7, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — The U.S. Virgin Islands Ministry of Tourism and Festivals Authority is proud to announce the schedule and village lineup for the 2024 St. John Celebrations.
The St. John Celebrations kick off with the Pan-O-Rama on June 8 and continue throughout the month with cultural events such as Princess, Junior Miss and Queen contests, a food fair and boat races.
“As we continue to expand our cultural events and welcome more visitors to join in the celebrations, we are pleased to announce this year’s exciting schedule for the 70th St. John Celebration and the 126th Anniversary of the Liberation of the Virgin Islands,” explained Joseph Boschulte, Executive Director of the U.S. Virgin Islands Tourism Board.
Located just steps from the Cruz Bay Ferry Dock, the highly anticipated Celebration Children’s Village and Festival Village will hold its grand opening on June 28th, kicking off seven nights of daily concerts with world-class entertainment that is free and open to the public. Headlined by international superstar Wyclef Jean, the Festival Village will also feature Kes the Band, Patrice Roberts, Dexta Daps, Pampa, Mr. Killa, Bunji Garlin, Faye Ann Lyons, Lyrical, Asa Bantan, Adam O, Richie Spice, Nadia Batson, Kool Sessions and more.
“Alongside our local partners and volunteers, the Festivals Division team is excited to kick off the St. John Celebrations in 2024,” said Festival Director Ian Turnbull. “We look forward to continuing to honour the deep and rich cultural history of the island of St. John whilst showcasing it to the world.”
Saint John’s culture is fully showcased with Jauvert, Liberation Day programs, the Torchlight Parade and Parade Day, culminating in the annual fireworks display at Cruz Bay Harbour on the Fourth of July.
For the 70th annual St. John Celebration, the festival division will be celebrating community leaders who embody the island’s rich culture and elegance.
