Increasingly, in tourist destinations in Europe, you’ll need to board a boat to get an Uber.
The ride-hailing company plans to roll out several Uber Boat options this summer, Uber announced in a press release on Tuesday (July 2).
The company plans to launch Uber Yacht in August in Ibiza, which it describes as “the most luxurious product on our app.” According to a company announcement, Uber Yacht offers Sunseeker yachts for up to eight people. Customers can book an eight-hour trip on a private yacht that comes with a personal captain, a complimentary bottle of champagne, and locally made, handcrafted snacks.
In Venice, Uber announced it will launch Limousine Boat in July, a water transportation service that can accommodate up to six people and can be booked on demand between 8am and 8pm.
In Greece, Uber Boat will expand from Mykonos to Athens, Corfu and Santorini in July, allowing visitors to travel to beach clubs, scenic coves and remote locations, according to the announcement.
In Paris, Uber is offering “Uber Cruise,” a private, hour-long tour on an all-electric boat down the Seine River, with views of Notre Dame, the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower, the company said in a statement.
“These new travel products are being launched in response to growing demand for Uber’s services in tourist destinations across Europe,” the company said in a statement.
The company said that its mobility services have seen a 55% increase in demand from international customers in Greece and Spain in summer 2023, with more than 6.5 million people using the Uber app in popular European destinations, with 800,000 people opening the app in Ibiza alone in the past 12 months.
Uber has announced that it will add new travel booking options in the UK in 2022 as part of its strategy to become a super app and one-stop shop for domestic and international travel.
With the UK as the base for its pilot program, the mobility company added options for booking flights, train tickets, hotel rooms and car rentals, in addition to offering taxis, bikes, boats and scooters. These mobility options join Uber’s existing ride-sharing and food delivery services.
