Tourists are eager to enjoy the warmth of the morning sun in the city that is home to the largest number of ancient Egyptian temples, the main driver of tourists’ early morning visits to the temples.
In this regard, Dr. Fatih Yassin, Director of Upper Egyptian Antiquities, said that the archaeological sites in Luxor Governorate are being inundated with tourists from the United States, Russia, Belgium, Romania, France, Bulgaria, Ukraine and Latin America, who are delighted with the excellent weather in the capital of the ancient Egyptian civilization.
The visit went smoothly, with the temple opening its doors to tourist groups from early in the morning, welcoming thousands of foreign and Egyptian visitors in a very successful tourist season for the governorate.
Yassin told “Youm7” that the tourism boom is due to the success of the national project by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities in Karnak, which was carried out purely by Egyptian hands. Tourists from all over the world enjoy visiting Luxor and Aswan during the winter and spring seasons, attracted by the warm and unique climate of these global tourism centers.
The number of tourists in Karnak has increased after the successful opening of the world’s biggest event in Luxor last year, the “Restoration of the Avenue of the Sphinxes of the Pharaohs”, Luxor’s most important national project.
It is noteworthy that groups of tourists continue to flock to Luxor to enjoy the magic of the ancient Egyptian civilization. Luxor is experiencing the largest development and national project plan by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. In Karnak, the columns of the Great Hypostyle Hall have been restored and beautified, revealing their original colors.
The second phase of the restoration of 48 ram statues in the First Courtyard of the temple has been completed. Currently, the temple is mainly focused on beautifying the area in preparation for the opening ceremony of the “Revival of Sphinx Avenue” project, which is highly anticipated around the world.
