CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — Looking for the best places to enjoy a sweet treat in West Virginia? The West Virginia Tourism Office has some recommendations.
Below is a list from the West Virginia Tourism Office of the best ice cream adventures in the Mountain State (with locations closest to Clarksburg listed first).
Pocky Dot – Fairmont
Pocky Dot’s at the Fairmont is known for its crazy ice cream displays and unique atmosphere. Where else can you get a £9 banana split? It’s more than just ice cream; it’s a photo opportunity and an unforgettable ice cream experience. They’re also famous for their homemade potato chips. Daily Cream Corner – Fairmont
Located on Fairmont’s east side, there’s almost always a line at this seasonal favorite. Known for its extensive menu and even larger ice cream cones, DCC is a Fairmont staple. Note that although there is an ATM machine at the restaurant, it only accepts cash.

Annie’s Coffee and Creamery – Morgantown
Annie’s is located just off Interstate 68 in Morgantown, making it an easy stop off after a West Virginia University football game or on your way to Cooper’s Rock State Forest. In addition to ice cream and coffee, they also serve baked goods from Apple Annie’s, a bakery with several locations around the state, including Morgantown and White Hall.
Ellen’s Homemade Ice Cream – Charleston
Perhaps the most famous on this list is Ellen’s in downtown Charleston. While all of their year-round flavors are award-winning, you can stop by Ellen’s throughout the year to try their limited-edition flavors. Check out their Facebook page to see what’s on the menu each month.
