(Dodge County) Wisconsin tourism hit record numbers in 2023, with all 72 counties reporting year-over-year growth in total economic impact. The state tourism department recently released data from last year showing Wisconsin generated $25 billion in visitor spending.
This beats last year’s record of $23.7 billion. The historic achievement was driven by Wisconsin seeing record overnight visits for the second consecutive year and tourism investments in goods and services.
In Dodge County, total business sales increased 5.6 percent, from $171 million in 2022 to $181 million last year. Direct visitor spending increased 5.2 percent. Tourists in Dodge County generated about $9.8 million in state and local taxes, up 4.9 percent from 2022. The number of part-time and full-time tourism jobs created increased slightly to 1,394 in 2022 and 1,406 in 2023.
In Fond du Lac County, the impact increased 3 percent to $283 million.
In Jefferson County, it increased 6.3 percent to $207 million.
Columbia County’s tourism impact increased 5.2 percent to $211 million.
Green Lake County saw a 10 percent increase to $69 million.
