The tourism industry in Mizoram is moving forward with a “responsible” tourism policy that came into effect in August 2020, it said.

The policy also focuses on making tourism a development tool for villages and local communities, eradicating poverty and providing livelihoods to local people, while adhering to the principles of economic, social and environmental responsibility. .
Previously, foreigners had to obtain a Protected Area Permit (PAP) from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs to travel to Mizoram.
However, the Ministry of Home Affairs has suspended PAP and all foreign nationals except those from Afghanistan, Pakistan and China are now exempt from PAP.
Although PAP is no longer required for foreign tourists, all foreigners are required to present themselves at the Foreigners Registration Office in Aizawl within 24 hours of their arrival in Mizoram.
