South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster has declared the week of May 19-25 as Travel and Tourism Week. This is the time when people and families begin to head to the Palmetto State. McMaster said people go to the beaches, eat, and golf, an industry that brings in about $30 billion a year, according to the state tourism board. This comes after the Palmetto State had two record-breaking summers of revenue. The average cost for a hotel or short-term rental in South Carolina was about $111 last year, a 26% increase from 2019’s average of $89. The tourism board also expects this number to jump significantly this summer.
