A Dallas, Texas-based flight attendant is sharing her favorite travel hacks as summer travel approaches for Americans across the country.

Bernice Padilla, 29, has been in the industry for six years and said she has traveled to 44 countries.

Over the years, she has collected and created unique travel insights to make getting to and from vacation easier.

“May and September are the best months to travel because they fall around the peak of summer here in the U.S.,” she noted, as reported by SWNS.

A global traveler who also runs a bucket list travel social media account, she books trips during the “shoulder” seasons like May and September, as travel demand is lower around the peak summer season. He said he strongly recommends it.

During periods of stable weather, they tend to be less crowded and “more affordable.”

“Every country has a unique shoulder season, so we recommend doing your research before booking,” she said.

As SWNS points out in its report, to avoid delays and maximize your chances of on-time departure, Padilla recommends booking the first flight of the day. Then he said.

“If there’s any delay, it ends up being a domino effect,” she says.

“Let’s say there’s a delay in California because of weather. Then my plane there can’t take off until that plane takes off.”

In their travel insights, airline crew members recommended taking the first flight in the morning to avoid departure delays. (SWNS)

This trickle-down effect can negatively impact afternoon and evening flights, but early morning travel times tend not to be delayed for such reasons, Padilla said.

Padilla recommends that if travelers are considering a trip to Europe or other countries, they should try to find the least popular international destinations.

Air travel controversy: Passengers who recline their seats on planes are considered ‘rude’

“Everyone loves going to London, Rome, Paris and Barcelona. [but] “I think there are a lot of great places people can go that are overlooked,” she said.

SWNS reports that Padilla is planning to go to Argentina and recommends it as a place that doesn’t have a lot of tourists.

As a packing tip, Padilla recommends using packing cubes if you have an overpacking problem at home.

“I still have an overstuffing problem, but I try to avoid overstuffing as much as possible,” she said.

The flight attendant also advised us to only carry carry-on luggage during the summer months to make travel easier.

Padilla said she always carries basics that may seem obvious but are important to remember. These include a reusable water bottle, a sweater or blanket, a pen to fill out the necessary forms, noise-cancelling headphones, and a portable charger.
