In most cases, the best deals on the Amex Travel Portal are for booking flights, hotels, and cruises. You probably won’t get huge savings or extra perks when booking car rentals or vacation packages compared to other he OTAs.

Platinum and Centurion cardholders typically have access to the best benefits.

How to get great deals on flights using the Amex Travel Portal

In particular, purchasing premium fare classes on international flights on more than 20 participating airlines originating from the United States through the International Airline Program is one of the best deals on airfare. The program offers discounts on airline tickets (typically hundreds of dollars) to Platinum and Centurion cardholders and up to seven companions on international flights in First Class, Business Class, and Premium Economy.

Platinum Cardholders can earn up to 5 points per dollar spent on flights purchased with Amex Travel, up to $500,000 annually, when they pay with their Platinum Card. Meanwhile, cardholders of The Business Platinum Card® from American Express (terms apply, see rates and fees) can earn $1 per dollar on flights and prepaid hotels through American Express Travel when they pay with their card. 5 Membership Rewards® Points, Earn 1.5 Membership Rewards® Points per dollar spent on eligible purchases. Up to $2 million per calendar year for purchases of $5,000 or more at U.S. construction materials and hardware suppliers, appliance retailers, software and cloud systems providers, shipping companies, and other locations. Earn 1 point per dollar spent. Get 35% back when you use Pay with Points on other eligible purchases.

The portal allows you to search for one-way, round trip and multicity flights. What is one highlight in particular? Even if you pay for part or all of your fare with points, you can earn air miles just like you would for a ticket.

Finally, eligible Amex cardholders can also take advantage of Insider Fares. This is a low fare available only if you have enough Membership Rewards points in your account (the fare must be paid in full with points). Travelers can also earn airline miles when purchasing Insider fares using Membership Rewards.

How to book hotels at a discount using the Amex Travel Portal

It’s easy to search for standard hotels on the American Express Travel portal and compare prices when booking hotels directly or through another OTA. One of the best deals available to Platinum and Centurion Cardmembers is to book hotels that are part of the Fine Hotels and Resorts Program (FHR), thanks to additional perks and perks. More than 2,200 hotels are participating in the program, which offers benefits such as:
