Grenada has launched an innovative marketing campaign called “Carriacou Carnival Cool Down,” aimed at promoting tourism to the sister islands of Carriacou and Petite Martinique.

The initiative encourages visitors to extend their stay and spend time relaxing and rejuvenating after Spicemas, Grenada’s largest cultural festival.

Explore the natural beauty of our sister islands

Visitors taking part in the Cool Down get the chance to immerse themselves in the Grenadines’ stunning surroundings.

Activities include enjoying the pristine beaches, soaking up the sun on Sandy Island and exploring the new underwater sculpture park which is due to be installed at Jack-a-Dunn by the end of July.

The campaign aims to establish a lasting tradition that will enrich visitors’ experience right after the annual Spicemas celebrations.

Taking place from August 14th to August 18th 2024, Carnival Cool Down promises a peaceful respite after the fun-filled Carnival festivities.

Tevin Andrews, Minister for Carriacou and Petite Martinique, expressed enthusiasm about the campaign’s potential to highlight the islands’ tranquility and unique charm.

Similarly, Randall Doland, Chairman of the Grenada Tourism Board, stressed that the inherent beauty and charm of Carriacou and Petite Martinique are an integral part of Grenada’s tourism destination.

The Cultural and Economic Benefits of Cooling Down

Carnival Cool Down is expected to enhance Grenada’s cultural and economic landscape.

Extending your stay allows visitors to explore the serene beauty of the islands in greater depth, adding a memorable chapter to your SpiceMas experience.

This initiative aims to not only promote cultural understanding, but also to retain and increase visitor numbers and contribute to the local economy.

Record tourist numbers and future prospects

The initiative comes at a time when tourism numbers are on the rise in Grenada, which is expected to increase by approximately 30 percent in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the previous year.

This growth follows a year in which visitor numbers already surpassed the previous record set in 2019 by 9 percent.

The increased accessibility provided by increased air traffic during the festive period is expected to significantly increase tourism to Carriacou and Petite Martinique, promising a bright future for the islands’ communities and economies.
