TEHRAN – The prestigious title of Tourism Capital of Asia 2024 has been awarded to Hamedan City by the Asian Mayors Forum (AMF).
This important declaration, designating Hameden as the tourism capital of Asia, was made on Wednesday by the Asian Mayors Forum (AMF), an international non-governmental organization working to strengthen relationships and cooperation between mayors and city managers across Asia. .
At the same time, Hameden Mayor Masoud Hosseini shared the news at a press conference, acknowledging the Hameden City Council’s commendable efforts in showcasing the city’s tourism potential to a global audience.
He commended the City Tourism Headquarters for its dedicated efforts in promoting urban tourism, stressing that it has made great strides in highlighting Hamedan’s tourism potential.
Mr. Hosseini expressed optimism and expressed the hope that through Hamedan’s close partnership with AMF, the city will be able to unleash its tourism potential more effectively than ever before.
Hamedan, also classically known as Ekbatana, was once one of the most important cities of the ancient world. It boasts abundant tourist resources. Famous landmarks such as Ali Sadr Cave, Abu Ali Sina’s Tomb, Ganjnameh Ancient Inscription and Aravyan Dome promise a rewarding experience to the visitors.
Spread out on a plateau, Hamedan was initially urbanized by the Medes, Assyrians, Persians, and Parthians. It may no longer be the legendary metropolis it once was, but it still boasts all the culture you’d expect from a place with such a long history.
In addition to designating Hamedan as Asia’s tourism capital, AMF announced on Wednesday that the southern Iranian city of Shiraz has been designated as Asia’s environmental capital for 2024.
