Mother’s Day Bible Message: Because I Love You
Bible: Exodus 20:12
you will need:
Bible flowers (one per child)
Say: Today is Mother’s Day! So let’s honor our mothers in a special way. Please show me the flowers. Aren’t these flowers pretty? You can each get one and gift it to mom, grandma, or a special caregiver in your family.
If you are leading this Bible message before your congregation, encourage your children to send flowers now. If you are leading this in a children’s church setting, wait by handing out flowers to the children when your time together is over.

How do these flowers remind you of your mother or the caregiver you loved? How does giving flowers honor the other person? What other ways can we show respect to those who do for us?
Say: Flowers are a wonderful way to honor someone and show your love. You can also show honor by telling your mother that you love her, helping around the house, and being fun to be around. Also mention other ways the children were talking about it.

Open your Bible to Exodus 20:12.
Say: This is what God says about our parents. “Honor your father and your mother, and you may live long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.”
The Bible says to “honor” those who value you. To “respect” means to show deep respect and affection towards someone.
Next time your mom asks you for something, remember to cheerfully say, “Okay, mom!” I do it because I love it! ” But be careful! She might startle her so much that she passes out. Then get ready to pick up her mom from her floor.
Pray: Dear God, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for our mothers, grandmothers, and all the people who love and care for us. We know you will help us treat them in a loving and special way. Remember that, not just on Mother’s Day, but every day.
Please send the children back. Give your mom, grandma, or other special caregiver a hug and tell them to say “Happy Mother’s Day!” I love you! “

Small paper jewelry box (1 per child) Glue Assortment of brightly colored fluffy paints Fine-tipped color markers Plastic jewelry Colored paper (1 per child) Safety scissors
Hint:
To add a little more “wow”, use a simple cardboard craft treasure chest. These are available at most craft stores at low prices. Or, for an easier option, you can use paper lunch bags.
