UNWTO has once again partnered with the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) to guide tourism development across the region.
The 17th 2023 UNWTO-PATA Forum (Guilin, China, 26-27 October) will strengthen the sector’s capacity to foster growth, build economic resilience and contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals. The forum, with co-organizers from the Guilin Municipal People’s Government, Guangxi Culture and Tourism Bureau, and Hong Kong Polytechnic University, explored the best ways to introduce greater sustainability at all levels of the tourism ecosystem. Discussions centered on priorities such as trends, innovation and technology, education and skills, and green investment, among other areas.
The two-day event featured keynote speeches by UNWTO officials, as well as expert input from national tourism boards, national tourism organizations, destination management bodies, government officials, NGOs, and industry stakeholders. Trends, insights, findings, and practices will be used to develop policies focused on improving sustainability, as well as to inform forum participants and the broader public, including through more effective use of data. raise awareness and promote awareness and education about sustainable tourism.
